Focuslight Releases QCW Macro-Channel Hard-Solder High-Power Vertical Stacks

Focuslight?Technologies Inc. announced the release of a new line of products in 2011, the Focuslight QCW Macro-Channel Hard-Solder High-Power Vertical Stack Series.

Macro-channel vertical stacks are based on Focuslight's proprietary Macro-Channel Cooler (MaCC) heat sink technology. As a consequence, they show lower susceptibility to corrosion and erosion than standard micro-channel coolers and they allow for less stringent requirements with respect to the coolant. More importantly, this technology allows the use of hard solder, being a prerequisite for reliable long-term operation of diode lasers in QCW mode. In addition, the combination of hard soldering and doing without micro-channels guarantees a long shelf life as much as the avoidance of heat sink damages in consequence of extended downtime periods. Accordingly, Focuslight’s MaCC technology significantly improves the ease of use, the reliability and the stability of liquid-cooled diode lasers.

Available vertical stacks range from 2 – 40 bars. The number of stack elements lined up horizontally can be anywhere between 1 – 10 pieces. Such a diode laser stack array panel can, thus, reach a maximum peak optical output power of up to 100KW, with electro-optical conversion efficiency larger than 50%.

Focuslight’s MaCC Hard-Solder Stacks and Stack Arrays can be customized according to different power and wavelength requirements. On demand, fast axis collimation is also available. With their outstanding performance and very attractive cost effectiveness, these newly released products enable a multitude of technically demanding applications in the field of both industrial lasers and scientific research.
