Presentation | Picosecond MOPA Laser System Enhanced by Novel Micro-Optic Components

12 October 2024, 17:00 - 17:20(Local Time), Dr. Chun He, Chief Scientist at Focuslight will deliver a presentation at Photonics Asia 2024 on the topic of “Picosecond MOPA Laser System Enhanced by Novel Micro-Optic Components”.

Summary

In this report, we highlight our latest advancements in applying our expertise in micro-optics design and manufacturing to the laser industry.

We have successfully designed and produced three novel micro-optic components aimed at overcoming critical challenges in mode-locked ultrafast fiber lasers. One of our key innovations is a newly developed unidirectional micro-optic intensity coupler, which has significantly extended the operational lifetime of ultrafast lasers, mode-locked by semiconductor saturable mirrors, from under 1,000 hours to over 10,000 hours.

Additionally, with two other specialized fiber optic components, we have increased the gain of fiber amplifiers from 20–25 dB to a groundbreaking 40–50 dB—achieving levels of amplification traditionally only possible with two fiber amplifiers connected in series.
